Aileen Leventon is a business counselor to the legal industry and a practicing lawyer with over 30 years of experience. Through QLex Consulting Inc., which she founded in 2006, Aileen and her team provide customized coaching and training to enable lawyers to integrate business practices with their work. Her clients include some of the most well-respected companies as well as prestigious and profitable law firms in the AmLaw 100 and 200. She has been trained by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy to deliver training on business skills relevant to lawyers. In 2015, she co-authored a book on Legal Project Management, Implementing Legal Project Management: The Legal Professionals Guide to Success, and is working on additional contributions to the literature.
Aileen has facilitated numerous after-action reviews of closed matters to promote sound economics and client service and to promote buy-in of legal project management techniques. She has also has been embedded in ongoing matters to provide analysis and coaching to bring distressed matters back on course.
Aileen provides hands-on workshops programs for members of corporate legal departments, senior law department managers and law firm partners (including new partners and client-relationship leads). She led the pilot program for the Association of Corporate Counsel’s legal services management curriculum, now in its sixth year and designed a program for senior associates on partnership track for The Fullbridge Program. As a member of the bar, she provides training for lawyers through NYC Bar Association and serves as project manager for the Legal Project Management Task Force of the American Bar Association Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions. She was a principal contributor to the new book published by the ABA Business Law Section, Using Legal Project Management in Merger and Acquisition Transactions.
After receiving her MBA, Aileen served as a partner in the global legal management consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (1995-2002), followed by two years as a partner at the US office of Blaqwell Inc. (2004-2006). She began her legal career at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, followed by an equal period as a transactional lawyer at Equitable Life/AXA. She has also held positions with entrepreneurial organizations in the legal and non-profit sectors.
Aileen graduated from Columbia Business School in 1994, Cornell Law School in 1977, where she was Managing Editor of the Cornell Law Review, and from Stony Brook University (State University of New York) in 1974, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
